Camping in Cornwall

After one night back home from Hay-on-Wye we were off again, this time Burton joined us for our camping holiday in Cornwall!

You can just about see Burton relaxing with Mr H and Ephram in my chair after we'd just got the tent up.  I'm afraid to say that none of them helped other than to tell us we should be quicker!

The amazing view from our tent front!

I had hoped to make both Mr H and Burton a sleeping bag for our camping trip, but alas I only had time to make Mr H's, so for this trip they had to share!  Hopefully next trip Burton will have his very own though Cool

Tuesday - Truro.  Whilst we wait for lunch, Burton surveys all of the leaflets I picked up to tell me where he'd like to visit in Cornwall

A quick trip to the Skinner's Brewery before heading back to the campsite.  We had intended to just pop to the shop for supplies, but there was a tour of the brewery just starting so it would have been rude to not join eh Wink

Enjoying some post-tour free pints, they were very generous!!

Wednesday - Padstow for my birthday.  Burton was a little worried he could get blown in the sea so he anchored himself to my picnic blanket whilst sat so close to the edge!

Burton and I in front of Padstow harbour

Thursday - St Austell Brewery.  Burton enjoying his first Cornish pasty, which incidentally was absolutely delicious, best one we had whilst in Cornwall!

Going on the St Austell brewery tour - checking out the yeast tanks

Inspecting all the old machinery

A little light reading for Burton!  He's certainly going to go home very knowledgeable about beer and brewing methods.

Some more free post-tour drinks!  Not quite as generous as Skinner's but still pretty good!

Mmmm there are so many good ice cream dairies in Cornwall, Burton is enjoying delicious blueberry and clotted cream ice cream here!

Friday - Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway.  As the weather forecast was not good I figured this would be a good day to spend on a steam train, Burton agreed though it was pretty busy!

Enjoying some St Austell beer on the train

Burton about to enjoy his very first Cornish cream tea, yum yum yum!!

Sunday - Sight-seeing in Boscastle and Tintagel, plus Sunday lunch, nom nom!  This is Boscastle harbour, 10 years ago Boscastle was decimated by horrific floods.  Today they have much better flood prevention in place and you would have no idea anything had happened!

Mmm nothing like a traditional Sunday roast!

Monday - Driving back home to Gloucestershire, sad to leave but just in the nick of time weather-wise!

Birthday weekend in Hay-on Wye

So most years for my birthday I have a fancy dress party, but since getting into camping a couple of years ago we usually go camping with friends now instead!  Unfortunately some of my friends don't do camping, so I meet up with them later in the month to celebrate

On the roooooad to Hay, Burton enjoys the scenery with Mr H and Gary the snail

The village of Hay-on-Wye, famed for it's massive amount of bookshops and the literary festival held here annually

Mmm sharing some iced coffee and a slice of courgette and lime cake with me, yummy!

Burton and I making a wish for nice weather for our weekend and following holiday!

Back at the campsite, conspiring with the fellas!

Back in Hay for a little Food Festival, it wasn't particularly big but had lots of nice local produce and we picked up a few bits for the weekend

Lounging around in Spammy and Chris' tent

Playing cards with Spammy, Arnold and I in our tent

After packing up the tent we went to visit my parents who happened to be holidaying close by in a little cottage in the grounds of a manor house and gardens.  Burton enjoyed walking around the grounds with us!
